At the end, when the 'monster' is shot dead by the kid, you can clearly see the latter's arms are hanging downwards. The ends of guns are not shown in frame if anyone shoots to cut down on effects costs you only hear the dubbed-on fire. The special effects are unforgettable: there aren't any. In fact, the thing was shot mostly silent, with a pompous voiceover added for commentary, which frequently hits real heights of silliness with its attempts at understated poetry. It has to be one of the most inept pieces of cinema ever made.įor starters, the director didn't trust his cast with dialogue, so no-one talks on camera, or dialogue is heard from so far out that you can't tell no one is talking. There's doubtless many who'd keep the opening but discard the rest of the movie. This indeed is the longest available print of this film, and it's rather quaint now to think that the topless scene at the start (which has nothing to do with the rest of the film) was ever censored.
